"Dan Rather has filed a $70 million lawsuit against his former employer CBS, its corporate parent and three of his former superiors, saying they violated the terms of his employment contract.
Rather alleges the network gave him insufficient airtime on “60 Minutes” after forcing him to step down as anchor of the “CBS Evening News” in March 2005."
The anchor was asked to step down after a story about President Bush's service during the Vietnam War was investigated and evidence came forward to show Bush did not serve his full time or to the degree he has described. CBS was hit with huge amounts of flack for this, as the story came to a head during the election of 2004 and painted President Bush as a liar. Rather and three others were used as a scapegoats and were forced to step down.
I am very excited that Rather has chosen to bring the full story to the public and I believe he deserves the money that was coming to him, since his career suffered from all the rumors and innuendo.
MORE TO COME....
