There is no Pepe Silvia.....

If you have not been watching the fourth season of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”, then you are missing out on the funniest show on TV. The completely off the wall, flipped the script comedy has the least PC storylines to ever appear on TV, yet is one of the sincerely funny comedies ever. I have been obsessed with the show since I first caught it on FX, but this season has reached far beyond my already high expectations. If you are unfamiliar with the program, it’s a comedy that follows the “lives” of four good for nothings, played by co-creators Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney, as well as “Curb Your Enthusiasm” alum, Kaitlin Olson, who live in Philly and work in a dive bar, they partly own with their father figure and severely disturbed Frank, played deliciously by Danny DeVito. Think Seinfeld on acid and crystal method. In previous seasons, we have watched the gang get hook on crack, get on welfare, date trannies, bomb buildings, try out for the Philadelphia Eagles and form a rivalry with a family of incestuous freaks. This season has taken the acid tripiness of the show to a whole other level, with the episode “Sweet Dee Has a Heart Attack”, which you can watch in full at Hulu. In the show, Dee has a heart attack, which forces Charlie and Mac to get a job with health benefits. They stumble upon a mail room gig that they split for the pay and benefits. While Charlie is down in the mail room toiling away, Mac is finding out if he can save the company and move up the ladder ”Secret of My Success” style. What follows could be the funniest two minutes I have ever watched on TV. Charlie and Pepe Silvia will haunt your funniest dreams!

What’s great about the show is that the cast and creators are all friends in real life, and actually they have two married couples, Olson and McElhenney and Day and Mary Elizabeth Eliis, Charlie’s real life wife and “The Waitress” who he has an unrequited crush on throughout the series. Here is a great interview with the cast and co-creators of the show about their amazing fourth season. And some good news for fans or will be fans, FX has picked up the program through at least a six season.

NO..not Brian Kinney!!!!!

No no no no!!!!! TMZ is reporting that the lovely, talented and completely underutilized Gale Harold from “Queer as Folk” fame was critically injured yesterday during a motorcycle accident. While there are conflicting reports on how serious the injuries are, we do not that Harold is in the ICU unit of USC Medical Center. The actor’s rep said that they are hoping for a full recovery.

Let it be known that if Gale Harold, one of the most beautiful men ever, does not fully recover, I will be curled up on my bed, crying, eating ice cream and watching a “Queer of Folk” marathon. Harold is currently working on “Desperate Housewives”, playing Teri Hatcher’s boyfriend Jackson. Honestly, why Gale out of all the crappy cast members on this stinky turd of a show had to get fucked up is beyond me. Ugh, while I quietly cry in my cubicle at the idea of no Brian Kinney, please watch the video below and understand the beautifulness of Gale Harold.

As McHale would say, THERE IS NOTHING LEFT TO SAY.

Sometimes The Soup showcases some bad Tyra moments or unbearable Dr. 90210 for their clip of the week, but only in a great while are we lucky enough to have some of the most disturbing images burned into our brains forever. This past Friday's episode managed to scar my childhood all over again. And as Joel would say, there is nothing left to say.

Sweetie, Darling, Abort Abort Abort this idea!

At some point, Hollywood is just going to kill me with all these remakes and recasts of once upon a time funny. The latest to send my head spinning and getting me closer to an aneurysm is the in development redo of on my favorite things ever to have been created, Absolutely Fabulous. Apparently, “hip and savvy” Fox Network is developing the American update of the near perfect comedy about one has-been, Patsy and her best friend who never was, Edina and their path into middle age, along with fashion tidbits, alcoholism, 60’s pop stars and the studious daughter of the never was, Saffy. Now honestly, I was aghast when I heard this news because the original is so perfect and so British and just all around not very easily replaceable. While Jennifer Saunders, the star (Edina) and brainchild behind the original, is involved in some way, as are the creators behind another favorite of mine, Arrested Development, I don’t see this show doing well.

They are moving the situation to Los Angeles, naturally, and I am sure will go way over the top with the alcoholism, wannabe and overall cougarness. The genius of the original was that it proper in a tacky way, which I don’t think an American show can tackle well enough. And we all know what Fox does to smart and out there comedies. If this anything like “Cybil” or “High Society”, I will be beyond mad. To calm me down and look at greatness, here is a great scene.

Also, the entire series is now available on DVD in a complete collection.

That chick Julie is truly dazzling!

Not to take words out of Amy Winehouse's mouth, but I say NO NO NO! to this terrible remake trend going on in Hollywood. Specifically all the movies I hold dear and that helped shape me into the dysfunctional human I am today. First they flirted with a remake of Adventures in Babysitting, then came a possible butchering of Teen Witch, but this news is way too much for me to handle.

If you know anything about me, it should be my undying love for the film “Valley Girl”. I have been head over heels for the Romeo and Juliet-esque flick that celebrated mall culture and new wave for as long as I can remember. Deborah Foreman (where the hell is she?) plays the most perfect Valley Girl Julie Richman and her taboo love affair with “punker” Randy, played by the newly named Nicolas Cage, makes an ideal 80’s romantic comedy. The movie that follows Julie and Randy battling their friends who oppose their unconventional love affair has one of the best soundtracks from the 80’s and a very realness to it. The film deals with many teenage issues, such as sex, secret love affairs and acceptance from your peers. So the fact that MGM wants to “revisit” the movie, musical style, bothers me to no end. My fear is that one of the little snatches from poop vehicles like High School Musical will get their mitts on the Julie character and somehow Pete Wentz will score the film and I will have to stand on top of the Empire State Building and jump! Let’s look at the genius that is Valley Girl before Hollywood ruins something else for me!

Movie executives are also threatening to remake the classic Monster Squad. Stop the Madness Hollywood! I am sure as heck there are a few writers still out in Los Angeles not penning sitcoms or webisodes for NBC and would love a crack at writing an ORIGINAL screenplay.

I Love Money - Who is going to take home the cash? - Review

Oh dear readers, as I have gone into lengthy detail about before here, I am very much guilty of loving reality programming . Somehow, I will find some little “America’s Next Best Worst Never Always Champion Loser” one Saturday afternoon in marathon form and become glued to finding out who wins/loses/dies/removes all hope of human dignity. As stated many times over on this site, VH1 has a knack for providing the worst competition reality programs, so bad I MUST WATCH THEM. When I first heard about “I Love Money”, I just knew it was going to be the hot mess that it is. Getting a bunch of unstable, fame seeking, money grubbing whores together on some foreign locale where the only thing they can do is conspire, have sex and fight is truly brilliance in programming. And while the show is definitely off to a slow start, with only Pumkin and Toastee lying to poor little Destiny to get Nibblz kicked off last night and Midget Mac being kicked off for calling some of the strippers “bitches”, from next week’s previews, the fun is just beginning.
And with all the teaser trailers Vh1 has been pumping in response to the show, I can only imagine that it gets better and better each episode. Now these losers from Vh1 dating show’s past are all battling it out for moola, $250,000 to be exact.

There are few competitors the others should definitely watch out for and in no particular order, here they are:

Megan – She could be the most dangerous player here. After her win on “Beauty and the Geek”, we all know the chick is 100% smarter than she pretends to be and will do anything to win. Also, she put up with Bret Michaels for as long as necessary to bring up her clout on Vh1. And with all the bonehead dudes competing with her, it shouldn’t be long until she has her claws in all of them.

Rodeo – She is a stronger competitor, literally, than the women there and could probably battle most of the men and win. Not only is she strong physically, she is strong mentally and she is a mom who has suffered through cancer, so the little losers are nothing to them. Her only weakness would be someone tugging on her heart strings, but I think she will be making it to the end.

White Boy – He looks dumb and sounds the same, but I think this dude is all talk sometimes. He obviously wants the money and is physically fit for the challenge. And his alliance with the Stallionaires can’t hurt. The only thing that will be his downfall is repeated mismanagement of the team as a captain or playing too many girls.

The Stallionaires – First, it is never bad to have an ally on these challenges. And if its your brother, even better. Chance could be the first one to go from the dynamic duo since he seems weaker, is less smart and doesn’t seem anywhere near as genuine as Real. The older brother will charm the ladies and participate in all the challenges, making him a viable contender to go to the end.

Hoopz – The insanely athletic, nice and beautiful Hoopz can give them all a run for their money. Chick was smart enough to play Flav and she seems like someone who should have been on Road Rules teaming up with Veronica or Coral to defeat newbies. Her athletic abilities will allow her to dominate challenges, her relative normalness will allow her to fly under the radar for a bit and her beauty will befuddle the dudes trying to kick her off. This truly might come head to head with Megan.

So there you have it, the first installment of our weekly “I Love Money” recap. Who do you think will take it all? And who do you think is playing the best game so far? Reality fans unite!

"I Love Money" has already won my heart!

Let’s be honest here, I am a reality TV whore. If Vh1, Bravo or any other pop culture network can play it in marathon form for weekends upon weekends in a row and there are multiple cast members crying into a confessional video camera or creating an alliance, I will be there will bells on each week.

This could ultimately be the reason I leave the house a little less than a few years back or why my brain is slowly starting to forget important history facts, but can remember slight details from Cycle 3 of America’s Next Top Model, but I don’t care. Please, if the country has self-destructed after two terms of George Bush, I think we are okay with New York having another reality program. But I am veering off topic, so let’s get to the show I am almost as excited for as the second season of “Flipping Out”, “I Love Money”. See Vh1 knew they had a gold mine with all the has beens and wannabes from multiple seasons of their “I want to date (insert lame 80’s famous star here)”, which helped fuel the embarrassing celebreality genre, but at least with this game show/reality program, the dudes and chicks are honest about why the brought their littlest tops and most aggressive fighting styles to a some poorly decorated home in Encino – MONEY! This show is the promise that people will do anything for money. What is looking like a perfect combination of the all too early in the genre “Fear Factor, where contestants ate bugs, climbed ladders and rode horses, to name a few, for the privilege of $25,000 and notoriety and the “Real World/Road Rules challenges programming, which took people who at one point were thrown into a house, made to live with strangers, ah you get it and made them battle it out, again for money. See what MTV did for reality program, making it okay to be bi-sexual, confused, money hungry and antagonistic, Vh1 made it doubly okay. They have celebrated season after season of stripper look-alikes making out with Brett Michaels, Flavor Flav and New York, a reality creation of magical proportions. This challenge show, where winners and losers from their dating shows will partake in spitting relays with Pumpkin and cow herding with Rodeo are so meta, that this should be the final inclination of any reality programming for Vh1. And from the below premiere trailer, I can not wait until these idiots battle it out to see who reins supreme in the reality whore competition of a lifetime. Sometimes MTV Networks, I don’t know if I should love you for placating me and giving in to my addiction or hating you for it. On July 6th, when I am treating my holiday sun burn with aloe and nursing my third straight day of Fourth of July hangover, I will be loving you Vh1 and my DVR. Enjoy….

Sadness...its a Corey!

Season 2 of “The Two Coreys” on A&E kicked off this past Sunday and can we so far the first two episodes make last season look like a visit with grandma. The fractured duo, who used to be Hollywood’s golden pair and my future husbands, begin this season with fights in diners and meetings with therapists. Did a memo circulate from VH1 to A&E letting them know that you can not have a reality program with an 80’s/child star without having them visit a therapist on camera?

Anyways, the two are brought together once again since both have relocated to Los Angeles, home to many dead dreams, and will be working on scenes together for the Lost Boys 2 movie. The two are found to be fighting over the suspicions of Haim selling stories of their broken friendship and secrets to the National Enquirer and the harsh stuff that I am assuming Haim used to drugs to suppress for the past 20 years. Both Corey Feldman and Corey Haim begin opening up to each other in what seems like a real way, despite the cameras being everywhere. Haim discusses being sexually molested as a teen and blames Feldman, repeatedly saying it was a very close male friend to Feldman. Feldman also states that he was molested repeatedly at the same time, but by a different close friend. I am thinking the offenders could be many people, and quite possibly Michael Jackson, but Feldman dismisses that claim in an interview with both Coreys for the July issue of GQ Magazine. Feldman went on record and said "People can say whatever they want, but it wasn't Michael. He and I have our own issues, but that wasn't one of them. The guy that did this to me was my assistant. I was still a virgin at the time. I hadn't even had sex with a girl. So for me it was just kind of bewildering."

Who knows if we'll ever find out who the perpetrators were? I think what is crazy is if this is all true, it seems that not only drug addiction is a pattern for child stars, but addiction following molestation is. Where the fuck are these kids' managers, parents, family, etc? What the hell is going on in that Tinseltown? Video of the sad confrontation is below, courtesy of Daily Motion.

The show depresses me, like it depresses other reviewers because it is incredibly difficult to watch two human beings crave celebrity so badly, when all it did was ruin their lives. As a child of the 1980’s, I remember the power and hold the Coreys had on me, my friends, the media and VHS. Twenty years later, the two are attempting to be taken seriously as actors and as power players in an industry that has already chewed them up and spit them out. While I personally always thought Haim had the bigger acting range and Feldman had the better personality, as grating as it is, I don’t see either being taken seriously, especially after this reality debacle. If there is one thing to learn from the celeb reality madness that has seemed to taken over basic cable the past few years is that it might be an easy way to bring home a paycheck, but it does not mean there will be further paychecks in your future. Like car crashes, we all like to watch a big mess go down – but most of us don’t stick around to watch the car being fixed. If you want to watch “The Coreys” in all their splendor, rent Lost Boys or License to Drive.

Come on join the joyride.....

Not sure if this irony at its best or just plain old America’s charm, but yesterday a story about a seven year old boy from Florida, who stole a car and drove it all over town to “crash it”, was reported on by various media outlets. It was also the same day that “Grand Theft Auto 4 streeted, which is looking to be one of the best grossing video games EVER! I am not saying Rockstar Games planned this, but it is pretty interesting. Here’s the video of this little charmer.

Ok, so this kid Latarian Milton, from Palm Beach, FL, stole his grandmother’s SUV and grabbed his “cigarette smoking” friend and drove this car ALL OVER town. The two hit parked cars, mailboxes and the joyride came to an end when they crashed into two moving cars. When interviewed as to why Latarian, a seven year old boy, would take his granny’s SUV and ride it all over town, he simply said “I wanted to do hoodrat stuff”. He went on about how cool it is to bad and dangerous things and didn’t even flinch when he was asked if he realized he could have killed someone. His grandmother was then interviewed and she said that she “wish she could have whooped his ass”, but she would probably be ”arrested for it”.

You have to love America, especially its shinning star in a sea of stars, Florida. The grandmother unfortunately will have to compensate all injured parties for the wreckage her grandson made on the joyride. And since we are chatting about joyrides, let’s check in with Roxette and hear about theirs.

Daily Rounds....

Thank gosh its Friday. Here’s the latest news……

  • * John Krasinski sat down with USA Today and chatted about his upcoming release, Leatherheads and his affection for George Clooney.

  • * Sumner Redstone and Tom Cruise buried the hatchet and talked shop over lunch in Beverly Hills. Supposedly, Cruise is interested in returning to the Mission Impossible franchise, which is still owned by Sumner’s Paramount.

  • * Speaking of Scientology fans, Pete Doherty is allegedly learning the basics behind CSI because of a new love interest and a wanting to stay clean of drugs.

  • * Finally, Lost Highway is available on DVD in the US. It’s a no frills version, nothing like the Special Editions of Twin Peaks or Wild at Heart that were released in the past few years. This movie has one of my top five scariest moments in movie history. Here it is:

  • * Run Fatboy Run, written by Michael Ian Black, starring Simon Pegg and Hank Azaria and directed by David Schwimmer is not getting the best reviews. In other State News, have you checked out Michael Ian Black’s and Ken Marino’s arc on REAPER? Genius!
  • * And finally, make sure you stay away from wombats! A man is alleging that she was raped by a wombat and that after the traumatic encounter she was then able to speak Australian. You can’t make this shit up people.

    ENJOY!

  •
