MTV Blows it Again Big Time....

In sad news, MTV officially lost all credibilty with music fans yesterday when they decided to have another go at the VMAs. If last years atrocious show opener staring Ms. Meltdown of the Year Britney Spears and the near seizure enducing cuts back and forth from performances and presenters wasn't enough of a nail in the coffin, last night has to be. MTV presented Britney Spears with three separate awards for best yada yada and they did it with a straight face. The pop tart also didn't show up bloated, stoned or with a baby in her hand, so all in all it was deemed a success by the critics. These are actually the first VMAs Spears ever received in her career and I am pretty sure MTV guilted itself into presenting these since they all but destroyed her career last go around.

The irony surrounding this event is a television station that continues to avoid the ever present fact that it is a pale shadow of its former self still manages to debase itself more and more each year with awarding videos and artists that it no longer represents. I am proud of myself that even the idea of Britney Spears reappearing was not enough for me to pull myself away from the 60 Minutes interview with Alec Baldwin to watch this shit show. (NO OFFENSE MTV, Really!) Anyways, the buzz is all over in praise of Russell Brand saving the near dead awards show. His star is definitely rising, but not sure being the funny captain on a sinking ship is the best career move. Brand who is basically the illegitimate child of the Sex Pistols and Hugh Grant is always hilarious and apparently the underlying sexy snark he delivers actually grabbed the audience this time around. In addition to the Spears' nonsense, Christina Aquilera, Rhianna, The Jonas Brothers and more performed. I think I just threw up in my mouth. Anyways, one time MTV darling Courtney Love blasted the program for the obvious reasons. Sadly, who knows if Courtney or Kurt Cobain would even find their way onto the station nowadays if they were just coming up. Defamer don't think so...

Sadness...its a Corey!

Season 2 of “The Two Coreys” on A&E kicked off this past Sunday and can we so far the first two episodes make last season look like a visit with grandma. The fractured duo, who used to be Hollywood’s golden pair and my future husbands, begin this season with fights in diners and meetings with therapists. Did a memo circulate from VH1 to A&E letting them know that you can not have a reality program with an 80’s/child star without having them visit a therapist on camera?

Anyways, the two are brought together once again since both have relocated to Los Angeles, home to many dead dreams, and will be working on scenes together for the Lost Boys 2 movie. The two are found to be fighting over the suspicions of Haim selling stories of their broken friendship and secrets to the National Enquirer and the harsh stuff that I am assuming Haim used to drugs to suppress for the past 20 years. Both Corey Feldman and Corey Haim begin opening up to each other in what seems like a real way, despite the cameras being everywhere. Haim discusses being sexually molested as a teen and blames Feldman, repeatedly saying it was a very close male friend to Feldman. Feldman also states that he was molested repeatedly at the same time, but by a different close friend. I am thinking the offenders could be many people, and quite possibly Michael Jackson, but Feldman dismisses that claim in an interview with both Coreys for the July issue of GQ Magazine. Feldman went on record and said "People can say whatever they want, but it wasn't Michael. He and I have our own issues, but that wasn't one of them. The guy that did this to me was my assistant. I was still a virgin at the time. I hadn't even had sex with a girl. So for me it was just kind of bewildering."

Who knows if we'll ever find out who the perpetrators were? I think what is crazy is if this is all true, it seems that not only drug addiction is a pattern for child stars, but addiction following molestation is. Where the fuck are these kids' managers, parents, family, etc? What the hell is going on in that Tinseltown? Video of the sad confrontation is below, courtesy of Daily Motion.

The show depresses me, like it depresses other reviewers because it is incredibly difficult to watch two human beings crave celebrity so badly, when all it did was ruin their lives. As a child of the 1980’s, I remember the power and hold the Coreys had on me, my friends, the media and VHS. Twenty years later, the two are attempting to be taken seriously as actors and as power players in an industry that has already chewed them up and spit them out. While I personally always thought Haim had the bigger acting range and Feldman had the better personality, as grating as it is, I don’t see either being taken seriously, especially after this reality debacle. If there is one thing to learn from the celeb reality madness that has seemed to taken over basic cable the past few years is that it might be an easy way to bring home a paycheck, but it does not mean there will be further paychecks in your future. Like car crashes, we all like to watch a big mess go down – but most of us don’t stick around to watch the car being fixed. If you want to watch “The Coreys” in all their splendor, rent Lost Boys or License to Drive.

Tatum O'Neal arrested for Crack in NYC....

Tatum O’Neal, my little darling and Oscar winner, was arrested last night in the Lower East Side of Manhattan for an alleged crack cocaine purchase. The actress who has battled alcohol and drug addictions since her early teens was said to ask the cops “to forget this” and that she was merely purchasing the drugs “for research purposes for an upcoming role”. The cops also found an unused, clean pipe on her person. She and the suspected drug dealer, Alan Garcia, were brought to the Seventh Precinct in NYC last night around 7:30 PM and were expected to have stayed the night. No word yet from O’Neal’s spokesperson on the charges.

O’Neal, who was once a bright shining star, wrote about her incredibly difficult childhood in A Paper Life. The daughter of Ryan O’Neal, best known for Love Story, his string of movie hits in 1970’s and his tumultuous relationship with Farrah Fawcett, was insanely jealous of her Oscar winning performance in Paper Moon, which he costarred with his ten year old daughter in.

She reported physical abuse from Ryan and direct emotional abuse, when he would constantly side with girlfriends and acquaintances over his young daughter. Tatum’s relationship was even more dysfunctional with her mother and she was constantly traveling from one place to another with her younger brother Griffin, who also has a long history of drug and alcohol abuse, to get away from their mother and father and find safety. Tatum followed up from her fall from grace with a marriage to tennis bad boy John McEnroe in the late 1980’s and the couple divorced after six years of pain and three children. Tatum is now in her 40’s and has been apparently clean of drugs for two years now, which is what she told the arresting officers last night. I do hope that this is true and somehow, this was all a big mistake, but unfortunately, it seems that O’Neal has had way too many run ins with drugs for one lifetime.

PS… Lindsay Lohan please please please take note of this story. This could easily end up being you and I say this with all sincerity and respect. Stick with Sam Ronson and make sure you keep your nose clean. I can’t watch another spunky freckled star fall into the abyss like this.

This makes me sad.....

I know being a child actor in Hollywood makes it rough to get serious work when you are older, but I had no idea it was this bad. Corey Haim is advertising for work now Haim took out an ad letting Hollywood know he was "back", which Defamer found through Variety. The actor who is back with his partner in crime, Corey Feldman for a second season on A&E, has been complaining that his past indulgences are keeping him from getting new jobs. Somehow he is the only ex-junkie who is finding it hard to get some work out there in LA. It might have been selling your teeth on Ebay thing that gives people reservations too.

This makes me sad for the ten year old inside me who used to be head over heels in love with him. It also makes me wonder how much he is in need of money, if he can take out an ad like this. Either way, someone out there - ahem - VH1 or Kevin Smith - help a brother out!
