Rosie O'Donell and Howard Stern have apparently ended their very long running feud and to celebrate Rosie stopped by Stern's studio earlier this week and dished the dirt. She blasted the producers and fellow hosts of "The View", night time hosts like Jay Leno and slew of others. Stern also offered Rosie to audition to the do the last hour of his radio programming and she said she would be into it. Someone very nicely put the convo on Youtube in five parts and here is the first. Check it out before it gets removed.

The Green Hornet is off...or well on..
Seth Rogen has finally been green lit as the star and title character in the upcoming feature film bringing life to the comic book story of The Green Hornet. Rogen has discussed his interest in the project for quite some time now and it is said that he had to push incredibly hard to grab the role due to his goofy persona and schlubby exterior. He is currently writing the script for the project with partner in crime Evan Goldberg, who co-wrote Superbad with Rogen. The Green Hornet is expected hit theaters in the summer of 2010. This movie is just another in a long line of atypical leading men taking the reins of "hero" characters in blockbusters. And some say that if it wasn't for Robert Downey Jr.'s portrayal of Iron Man in this summer's most successful blockbuster so far, studios wouldn't be so keen on taking a risk on a non-action type leading an action film. I heart Rogen and am very excited about seeing him take a departure from the normal Apatown fare.

Box Office Results and other Movie News....
So we knew it was going to happen and with all the Sex and the City: The Movie madness for the past few weeks the ladies took the reigns from Indiana Jones and nabbed the top spot for the box office totals this past weekend. The movie could be one of the only movies, whose stars are 40 + year old women, to grab the top spot. I promised my dissertation (joking, it should be much shorter than that) on the SATC madness, backlash and the actual movie, but my ass was caught up in family drama, and by that I mean a sick puppy, so I can not see it until tonight. I will be attempting to publish my review and coverage on the SATC backlash later tonight, but no promises. Odds are, first thing tomorrow.
Anyways, here is the full list of the top 10 movies from this weekend’s box office totals.
1. Sex and The City: The Movie - $55.7 million
2. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull- $46 million
3. The Strangers - $20.7 million
4. Iron Man - $14 million
5. The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian - $13 million
6. What Happens in Vegas - $6.9 million
7. Baby Mama - $2.2 million
8. Speed Racer - $2.1 million
9. Made of Honor - $2 million
10. Forgetting Sarah Marshall - $1 million In other movie news, MTV televised their “live” Movie Awards last night which has truly just become a two hour block of free advertising for movie studios pushing Summer releases. I couldn’t tell you who won anything other than Johnny Depp who walked away with two awads, since he truly took the audiences and my breath away. It’s a rare find nowadays to see a movie star of his caliber and to be around it is quite something else. Other stars who showed up to peddle some new flick or remind the kids they were still alive were Lindsay Lohan, Ellen Page, Steve Carrell, Duane Johnson, Anne Hathaway, Will Ferrell and Puff Daddy. Mike Meyers hosted the hot mess, promoting his Love Guru movie any second he could and reunited with one time partner in crime, Dana Carvey for a Waynes World sketch.
It was a bit bizarre, mainly because half of the studio audience had probably never known the original. Tom Cruise did his best "cool dad" performance and gave some kind of achievement award to Adam Sandler and he accepted it graciously and quite funny. But the funniest part of the show was not the ill fated award presentation involving “fake marijuana” with Seth Rogen and James Franco, who were promoting the much anticipateted , but it was the “viral video clip” for the upcoming Tropical Thunder movie starring Robert Downey Jr., Jack Black, Ben Stiller and written by Justin Theroux, a favorite here at The Spielster. You can check out the rest of the show and clips from it at MTV.com.
And in other happenings at the Universal Studios lot this weekend, a fire spread across the New York City sets there damaging multiple popular backdrops, such as the clock tower from Back to the Future and part of the King Kong attraction. Poor water pressure is being blamed for the fire being able to spread to almost two blocks long of the sets lot. According to reports this morning, the fire was calmed down, but the local fire department is watching over the lot to make sure it remains contained.

Tatum O'Neal arrested for Crack in NYC....
Tatum O’Neal, my little darling and Oscar winner, was arrested last night in the Lower East Side of Manhattan for an alleged crack cocaine purchase. The actress who has battled alcohol and drug addictions since her early teens was said to ask the cops “to forget this” and that she was merely purchasing the drugs “for research purposes for an upcoming role”. The cops also found an unused, clean pipe on her person. She and the suspected drug dealer, Alan Garcia, were brought to the Seventh Precinct in NYC last night around 7:30 PM and were expected to have stayed the night. No word yet from O’Neal’s spokesperson on the charges.
O’Neal, who was once a bright shining star, wrote about her incredibly difficult childhood in A Paper Life. The daughter of Ryan O’Neal, best known for Love Story, his string of movie hits in 1970’s and his tumultuous relationship with Farrah Fawcett, was insanely jealous of her Oscar winning performance in Paper Moon, which he costarred with his ten year old daughter in. She reported physical abuse from Ryan and direct emotional abuse, when he would constantly side with girlfriends and acquaintances over his young daughter. Tatum’s relationship was even more dysfunctional with her mother and she was constantly traveling from one place to another with her younger brother Griffin, who also has a long history of drug and alcohol abuse, to get away from their mother and father and find safety. Tatum followed up from her fall from grace with a marriage to tennis bad boy John McEnroe in the late 1980’s and the couple divorced after six years of pain and three children. Tatum is now in her 40’s and has been apparently clean of drugs for two years now, which is what she told the arresting officers last night. I do hope that this is true and somehow, this was all a big mistake, but unfortunately, it seems that O’Neal has had way too many run ins with drugs for one lifetime.
PS… Lindsay Lohan please please please take note of this story. This could easily end up being you and I say this with all sincerity and respect. Stick with Sam Ronson and make sure you keep your nose clean. I can’t watch another spunky freckled star fall into the abyss like this.

Weekly Round Up....
Gossip Roundup will be short and succinct today because I would rather get into the SATC mania and some Cannes info for you dear readers. The one thing I love about traveling, which I just did some of, is the ability to buy 5 + gossip magazines all in one shot and read them completely through on the plane. And with the added jolt of Jetblue’s DirectTV service, I get my pop culture fix on my way to and from my destination and do not have to waste any time during my travels to know the comings and goings of Lilo or Angelina Jolie.
So let’s get down to the nitty gritty. And by the by, I caught Carmen Electra and her nu-metal fiancĂ©e in the airport en route to New Orleans. Homegirl is much taller than I expected and was quite pretty for being up at 9:00 AM after a long flight. Ok so let’s get to it…

More later on SATC, Scary Sadshaws, LOST and the reality of reality.

A return from the Spielster and sad news in Tinseltown...
Wow does a lot of stuff happen when a chickadee heads south? I have just returned from a week in New Orleans/Baton Rouge for a celebration of my friends’ wedding and the ability to drink Hurricanes anywhere in the city and it was fabulous. First off, its always nice to get away from New York and get to see another part of the US, especially one that loves fried shrimp so much. I was able to see how a bunch of my friends lived before they moved to the city, see what happens when your gov’t doesn’t help out groups of people during Hurricanes and again drink alcohol in the middle of the street at 11AM. Now I am back to the crane collapsing, Sex and the City obsessed NYC and damn has a lot of stuff gone down while I was gone. First, let’s get to the sad news….Sydney Pollack, one of my favorite directors and a Hollywood legend, passed away at age 73 this past Monday. Pollack was suffering from cancer and passed at his family home in Los Angeles. The man who aided in the revolution of the Easy Riders/Raging Bulls of the 1970’s film community, Pollack was responsible for some of the most memorable movies in American Cinema. Sydney directed, to name a few, Tootsie, The Way We Were, The Firm and Out of Africa, consistently working with huge Hollywood players and occasionally making appearances on the other sides of the camera lens.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters and many many cinemaphiles, like myself, who appreciate the ability Pollack had to merge comedy with the drama of every day life. Here is a priceless scene from Tootsie, starring Dustin Hoffman and the wonderful director. Also in sad news, Harvey Korman, star of The Carol Burnett Show and Blazing Saddles, passed away yesterday from complications from rupture of an abdominal aortic aneurysm. The comedic master was 81 years old at the time of death and had been suffering from the aneurysm's effects for the past four months. Korman was a mainstay in the comedy world of New York City, Chicago and the 1970's and 80's. Mel Brooks said that it is a sad world "without Harvey". Korman is survived by his wife and four children.
Later today, we will rounding up the week's gossip, news bits, reality TVs winners and losers and LOSTs big finale, an update on the Summer movie season, Cannes Film festival and the sheer madness that is Sex and the City. ENJOY!

SPOILER ALERT!!! - David Cook wins American Idol
So, if I was a betting woman, I would blind stinking rich right now. David Cook won the top prize last night at the American Idol finale. Cook won the battle after 100 million votes were placed and he beat out David Archuleta by 12 million of them. All the finale needed was some NKOTB and it would have been my wet dream as a little girl. George Michael, Bryan Adams, Donna Summers and the cast from the "Love Guru" and "Tropic Thunder" all came to the AI stage to promote something or the other. Last night's finale was probably my favorite to date.
The numbers were a bit weak, but what they were able to do was showcase the weaknesses of those already kicked off. It was almost like a "told you so and good job" on the voters. Carrie Underwood came out and rocked the stage like the diva she is, last year's winner Jordin Sparks also sange her new hit and George Michael sung one of my favorite songs by him, but he sounded and looked bit off. He blamed a cold and I hoping that's all that it was, because now my mom wants to see him perform at MSG.
Throughout the night, the one thing that stood out other than the producers pushing Michael Johns, a contestant who lost out in like seventh round, was that David Cook really owned the stage when he was performing. He seemed calm, cool and like a man who already knew he lost. Archuleta, in my opinion not only lacked spunk, but lacked harmonies with his fellow singers. But nothing was worse than watching Brooke White dance. She could be the most textbook example of why white people are requested not to dance anywhere other than a wedding. Before they announced which David won, Simon Cowell apologized for ripping into Cook the other night and said that for the first time in American Idol history, either final contestant winning would be great. Anyways, I am very glad the best man won and I think this is just the beginning of what could be a great career. The expression on his mother's and brother's faces was priceless and it was wonderful to watch everyone celebrate his win.
Here is the video of the announcement and his final performance.
