Little Girl Lost

There are a million ways to look at the Lindsay Lohan story. Here are a few:

  • 1, She is young and stupid and will clean up her act.
  • 2, She is a narcissistic brat who is wasting the good fortune she was given.
  • 3, She has terrible parents who lack the common decency to put aside petty crap for
    their ailing daughter.
  • 4, She is a product of the Hollywood - who loves success and train wrecks equally.
  • 5, She is a target, who when not messing up, is caught behind the lens of the every
    watching media's camera.
  • 6, She is a whiny little jerk who is too lucky for her own good.
  • 7, ALL OF THE ABOVE AND MORE.

Lohan is barely 21 years old and has two rehab stays under her belt, two DUI charges and a host of other issues that seem to plague her at every turn. There is outcry of "Lock her up!" and "Help this poor girl!" at the same time. She is obviously, young, misled and not protected. Her dearest friends sell pictures of her for money, they tell stories of her escapades and let her continue on the downward spiral. She has an absent criminal father, who believes that discussing private matters with the media will bring her back to him. And lets not forget her manager mom who seems to not care that her daughter is a train wreck begging to hit rock bottom. Add on top of that eating disorders, drug addiction, self esteem issues and no work ethic and you have quite a nice package - for a psychiatrist.

We all wonder why she is cracking at the seems. I mean she got a rave review for her acting skills from Meryl Streep, the goddess of the acting world. She is attractive, wealthy and seems to get whatever she wants, so most of us on the other side don't get the problem. I have heard so many times "If I was her, I would never mess this up." But that's because you are looking at it from the outside, not inside her own shoes. Not to sound corny, but I feel bad for her. Every idiotic move she makes is gone over with a fine tooth comb by 9AM the next morning so it can be dissected and mocked on the blogs, in the papers, and on the covers of the glossies. She is doing a lot of the same things that many celebs and hell even chicks in small town are doing, it's just what she does gets coverage. Now in no way to I condone drinking and driving, but I also we all have our moments when we think we know what we are doing and that it is right. I think this poor girl needs to learn she lost control of the wheel a long time ago and is obviously having no help getting it back.

She is steps away from the down fall. And she better watch
The Two Coreys, because if she isn't careful she can end up losing a valuable career with simple mistakes. But more importantly, she could lose her life with any of her heavy addictions. Hopefully, someone will give this girl a reason for her to live, because at this point it doesn't look like she cares either way.

  • Let's wrap it up

Another rainy day in New York and I ain't in a good mood. Today has been pretty quiet on the celebosphere and I am sick of posting depressing NY crime stuff, so let's keep it a bit upbeat today.

    DAILY ROUNDS....

  • And I will go for the easy joke here, Winehouse says "No, No, No" to rehab The chick apparently on a Motley Crue style bender and ended up in the hospital. Jeez..what happened to the days it took more then a year to crash and burn?
  • Laura and Jenna Bush set to publish children's book The book will be released in Spring of 2008. and “according to HarperCollins, "depicts a mischievous little boy who likes to do everything but read.”
Does that description sound familiar to anyone??? Just saying is all…
  • It might be raining in NY, but it seems that all the leaks are happening in D.C.
  • Somehow the NY Post manages to take a Woody Allen quotequote and turn it against Lindsay Lohan. In the upcoming "Conversations With Woody Allen," published by Knopf, Allen discusses his problems with insuring and bonding Robert Downey Jr. and Winona Ryder for his film “Melinda and Melinda” and was forced to pick other, not so good replacements. Obviously their records was what made it so difficult and what could make it so difficult for Lindsay Lohan to be in a film anytime soon, but what really bugged me was who they wouldn’t bond. You are telling me that some actress “stealing” (and since celebs usually get their stuff for free, who cares) and a heavy duty drug addict are one in the same to an insurer???

This weekend The Spielster will dishing on the ten bands you need to listen to now (if you haven't been already), the terrifying world of The Two Coreys & my Lohan assessment.
    ENJOY!

    Aftertnoon Snack

  • Rolling Stone's latest cover ruffles feathers

  • Speaking of a cast member from Hairspray, Democrats have the first gay issue centered debate tonight
  • Chocolate Rain hits TV
  • CMJ announces their 2007 lineup I have to say other then a few bands, this lineup blows. CMJ has gotten progressively worse the past few years and this basically stinks. But don't fret NYers there are good shows coming up this fall.

  • SHOCKER: Michael Lohan speaks out Doesn't anyone have a muzzle? Lohan is speaking out against the tell all Lindsay's ex body guard gave to IN TOUCH magazine. (More on Lohan this Saturday on Spielster
  • Real World returns to LA for its 20th season Oh man...they should just stick Beth in the cast just for shits and giggles. And maybe Jon so he can finally get laid. I mean all these losers are gonna end up here anyway searching for "success" in entertainment (i.e. waiting to go into porn)

And speaking of reality, here is the weekly recap in all reality happenings:
  • Bret kicks out Rodeo and Brandi C from the Rock of Love house

  • "Hells Kitchen" jerks off for an entire episode. We are stuck waiting another week to see which mediocre chef will win the competition
  • Sara N. packs her knives on Top Chef!
  • Scott Baio is still a jerk
  • BRAVO makes me fall in love with another narcissistic asshole from LA
And finally, MTV stoops to its lowest common denominator and puts together the single worst cast of Real World possible. Syndey doesn't deserve this I can already see where this shit is going and I am not a fan...And these bastards get to kick it up in Australia for 4 months. The best part of the first episode was when Parisa didn't want to party anymore, Kelly Anne, sick body from Texas, goes " Then what is she doing on this show? Let's make her cry and send her home." This ain't Big Brother dummy! The (one time) basis of the show was to learn from different people and open your eyes. Not to have threesomes in the jacuzzi with your roommates.

  • Daily Rounds....

Well all in all, NY is back to normal after the storms yesterday. So let’s recap some of yesterday’s events and then get onto the entertainment news.

  • Would you like a tornado with the torrential downpour New York?? Why are weather services so afraid to jump to conclusions about tornadoes? It has since been confirmed that Brooklyn was hit with a tornado yesterday morning, making it the first one to touch down in the borough in 118 years. Don’t ya just love the effect of global warming y’all?
  • And let’s discuss the mess that was the subway system yesterday….
  • Police make arrest in Newark killings Four young adults were shot execution style this past weekend in a schoolyard in Newark, NJ. Officers had been on the search for suspects and clues all week. Cops have arrested a 15 year old involved and are still looking for a 31 year old man believed to be linked to the shooting. Officials are also saying there could be others involved in this brutal attack.

And for those of you who do not reside in the Tri-State area, I have some news for you as well. Here we go……

  • Breaking News - Lindsay Lohan has bad parents. I love how we needed this confirmed by an ex bodyguard of the starlet. I was telling the same stories awhile ago and I just grew up in the same town as this chick. (More on the Lohan debacle tomorrow)

  • Common hit’s number one on the Billboard charts with "Finding Forever". This is the hip hop artist’s first time at the number one slot. Korn, somehow, received the number two spot with their “Untitled” album.
  • Dreamworks this close to hitting $1 Billion in box office sales The studio run by Steven Spielberg, David Katzenberg & David Geffen is leading in market share and has been responsible for some of this year’s biggest box office draws, such as "Norbit,", "Blades of Glory," "Disturbia", "Transformers” & Shrek the Third
  • KFed files for sole custody of the tater tots. Apparently, even K Fed knows Britney Spears is being a bad mommy. Federline is using her recent nightly club outings and other irrational behavior as ammo in his custody case. I never thought I would say this, but these kids would be much better off with this numbskull.
  • Scary Spice wastes no time Melanie Brown was married apparently to one of the Belafontes in June of this year. The news became public the same day Brown was expected to sit with Larry King Live and discuss her child with Eddie Murphy. Dang, Murphy is is marrying a gold digger and Brown is already married. I really believe what those two had was super special.

  • Mr. Big is back Chris Noth has signed on for the feature length “Sex and the City film. Geez when this movie is actually made these chicks will really by Golden Girls.
  • This woman really wanted to hear "good job dawg!"
  • Entertainment Weekly discusses 20 top endings of our favorite movies. Do you agree???

Later today, Spielster will present its reality recap and with that be discussing the vile new season of The Real World:Sidney. To give you a prime example of the douchebagery to be discussed, check out the trailer:

While you were trying to get to work this morning New Yorkers.....

I am just going to say it…It’s days like today where I dream of being stuck in traffic in my own car for two hours. This morning was one of my top three worst commutes ever in the city. We here in NY and some areas of Jersey had one hell of a rainstorm hit us overnight and it literally tore shit up. Almost all of the subways are still not running as they are literally bailing the tunnels out. Now usually the morning commute here could be annoying and jam packed with jerkwads, but today was special.

Let’s preface that I had to wait for eleven subway trains this morning and then was forced to basically dry hump the four people who were definitely invading my personal space in the sardine style packed subway to only find out there was no trains to get me to my job and then about 25 blocks. And I had one of the easiest commutes in my office. It’s mornings like these that make me rethink living in this death trap. Don’t get me wrong – I heart this city and am truly a NYer to the bone, but after watching the LA based reality shows last night and the hectic morning – bumper to bumper traffic on a 405 doesn’t sound too bad to me.

But enough with my kvetching, let’s get to the headlines…

  • Murder victim’s boyfriend confesses after attempting suicide Boitumelo McCallum’s decomposing body was found in her parent’s apartment in a NYU owned complex in Greenwich Village this past Sunday. Police had been looking for her boyfriend, Michael Cordero, in connection to the crime since Sunday. Cordero slit his wrists yesterday on the rooftop of a housing project and eventually found himself in police custody by last night. I hate to say it, but this an episode of Law & Order waiting to happen.
  • Barry Bonds breaks Hank Aaron's home run record And everyone is still wondering if it was him or the drugs…
  • Wynonna Judd discusses her husband's arrest The singer discussed her husband’s addictions and his arrest for aggravated sexual assault on minors to “Ladies Home Journal” for their cover story. From the looks of it, this lady doesn’t seem to interested in dumping this perv.
  • Brian Grazer signs deal for FBI based drama on FXUber producer brings his strengths to FX, which in recent years has been producing some strong and edgy programming for a network cable station.

  • Kate Hudson and Dax Shepard caught making out If I hadn’t seen Idiocracy, I would be a bit more weirded out by this relationship. The two were found being all cute while vacationing with Hudson’s family in Canada.
  • All I have to say is Yuck!!!!!
  • Geez these two love getting press.. Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards head back to court for a new custody battle. And now these two idiots keep talking shit about each other to the gossip rags. Apparently Richards wanted Sheen’s semen for another spawn and instead of hitting up the hooker population of Hollywood for a used condom, she asked her ex-husband. Somehow I am not buying this story. I know she’s a nut, but she ain’t that crazy.
  • Unlike most men in Hollywood, Brett Ratner admits to receiving a blow job from a transvestite. I mean come on, who hasn’t?
  • Veronica Mars might show up on LOST TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello is reporting that Ms. Kristen Bell could be joining the LOST cast this upcoming February as a spunky, academic 20 something. So we can pretty much guarantee some more flash forwards in this upcoming season.

    Daily Rounds....

"The Bourne Ultimatum" had the best August opening on record this past weekend The third installment in the”Bourne” series has fared well with critics and viewers. Universal is quite excited about their “by accident” franchise and I am sure Matt Damon isn’t upset either. Damon believes that his role in the first installment re-energized his career and got him back on the top lists.

Here’s the rest of the box office toppers from this weekend:

And now on to the days news:

    Let's get political..political...

  • Even Giuliani’s daughter doesn’t support him this time around. …And don’t you just love that the minute the press start sniffing around, she declares she signed up for the Obama group “out of curiosity”. Right, the curiosity to find a better candidate then your dad….it’s okay this is America, we have freedom of speech and not every candidate’s kid has to give up what they truly believe in .
  • Great..another thing I don’t need to know about my neighbors. With this tracking device, you can basically find out who donated to what political party, the amount and when. Although, I couldn’t find my ass anywhere on the site and I have donated in 2004 and this year already.
  • Keith Olbermann will be hosting an upcoming Presidential candidate debate. Wonder if he will bring up the Iraq war???? I actually really enjoy his commentary and hopefully he will be able to hold the candidates feet to the fire.
  • Six coal miners are trapped in the Crandall Canyon in Utah. What is insane is that this mine was still up and running with the 325 citations against the mine since January 2004. The citations are given out after testing and inspections by the Mine Safety and Health Administration. Our deepest regrets go out to the miners and their families at this time. Hopefully there can be some good outcome from this.

    Kick the beat....

  • And in lame hip hop news... 50 Cent and Kanye West to debate each other on BET. How I wish Biggie and TuPac could rise from the grave and rip these two douches to shreds! I mean how narcissistic can two humans be that they believe their intelligible conversational skills can work in a debate forum. Ugggh…the “lamization” of hip hop is at the crux.
  • Coverage of this weekend's Pool Party. I would have been able to show you pictures or give my own review of the show if the line to get in wasn’t 8 miles long. Word to the wise, get to these things early from now on. Each week seems to have a longer and longer line to get in. You can RSVP ahead of time at Going.com
  • It's official - MTV is late to the party! I mean the new artist line up for the VMA's reads as a who's who of 7 months ago. When MTV realizes their validity with anyone actually interested in music and over the age of 16 is non-existent, it will be great.
  • What’s good for the Police is good for the Halen! Van Halen will announce a new tour with one time lead man David Lee Roth next week. Michael Anthony, the previous bassist for the group, return and will be replaced by Eddie Van Halen’s son Wolfgang.
  • SPIN’s review of the new 1990's release. This is a band you will need to know, believe me.
And that being said, this Saturday Spielster will be bringing you the next ten bands you should already be listening to….Get ready…!

And in my own personal “Danzition”, here is some fun information……

  • Harold Perrineau dishes on his return to “LOST”. Entertainment Weekly speaks with the actor on his time away from the ABC drama and what he is looking forward to with the upcoming season.
  • Well if I’m gonna get cancer from the printer at work, I might as well get back to that pack a day habit …..
  • New York Magazine dishes on Bravo "reality" And proves what we all knew, TV executives lie! The story goes in depth on some of the winners and finalists for BRAVO’s shows Project Runway & Top Chef and if they really hit the success after the show. It seems that Top Chef contestants fare better then other shows.

    Daily Roundup

This weekend seemed to fly by and unfortunately none of my posts from the past two days have seemed to find their way onto Spielster, so I am going to try and make it work this time . This past Sunday, I went to McCarren Park Pool to check out the weekly pool party – this weekend headlined by none other then Brooklyn’s own TV on the Radio . Despite the many puddles and gloomy weather, the show was amazing and the crowd didn’t seem fazed by all the on and off rain storms. The band, as always, played a great set with the usual raw energy they have on stage. It seriously wouldn’t be a summer if TVOTR didn’t play a rocking show. With some different takes on my personal faves, such as “Dirtywhirl”, they were able to bring a different feel to a set I have seen a few times. This is what I love about this band – they can literally play the same songs over and over and make them sound completely different each time. They have released some selected reworked tracks exclusively through Itunes. If you haven’t checked out this band yet, you are nuts and must go out right away and buy Return to Cookie Mountain. Next Sunday’s pool party will be Blonde Redhead, which should be an equally amazing show.

And now let’s get this started…….

  • Steve Martin got himself married at a private reception this weekend . The comedian used the old “Come over for a BBQ – I mean my wedding” trick that somehow continues to work every time. This wedding should finally end that rumor that Martin is dating Kristin Davis.
  • Tom Snyder, talk show host, passed away this weekend at the age of 71 from leukemia. Snyder was an integral force within the late night arena and can honestly be thanked by Letterman and O’Brien for allowing the acceptance of more alternative bands in late night programming. Snyder was the man who brought rock acts such as Johnny Rotten and shock jock Howard Stern to the forefront and gave them all a more “human” persona with his famous tête-à-tête interview style. Here is a great profile on Mr. Snyder, a man who brought sub-culture to the mainstream.
  • ASCAP sues clubs for playing music without permission Huh??? This makes no sense to me...Isn't that what a DJ does??? They play other people's music? And should this be considered a "performance" of a song? I would like to see how this plays out.
  • It’s a good thing! Martha Stewart is bringin her craftiness to the DIY Network with her own show. The show, which will be a best-of type of program, featuring how-tos on crafts from Martha’s LIVING program, will premiere on Nov. 22, Thanksgiving Day.
  • Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal caught in same car – TALKING!!! you know what that means. Yeah, the same thing it means when I have someone in my car – I know them. Although I have to say they would make a super duper cute couple!!!!
  • Give me a break! I am so bored of these paparazzis whining about threats. You are in these people’s faces on a daily basis and its to the point of harassment with some people. And although I do agree Spears is a crazy lady, I am pretty sure even she wouldn’t kill a photographer. But that would make an amazing Law & Order episode!!!!!!! (COPYRIGHTED IDEA!!!)

  • On the other hand, Britney Spears is nuts. Why does she still have these kids????????
  • News Corporation now owns another media outlet. Board members of the Dow Jones and News Corporation have approved the deal to purchase Dow Jones & Co. for $5 billion. This will now make News Corporation the publisher of the Wall Street Journal.
  • Donald Rumsfeld testifies in front of the House committee to discuss details of Tillman’s death. The former Defense Secretary was a last minute addition to the witness list in discussing the “friendly fire” incident in Afghanistan that killed the once professional football player.

And in this weeks DUH!!! News:
  • Nicole Richie confirms, what I thought she did with US Weekly, that she is in deed pregnant with child. Remember when Good Charlotte was mocking the “Lifestyles of the Rich & the Famous. Seems they don’t really care anymore. And why is this skank getting less time in the slammer then Hilton???

  • Star Jones finally comes clean about gastric bypass surgery
And speaking of Star Jones, the new co-hosts for the View are apparently being announced this morning. Our bets are on Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepard – like everyone else, but until it comes out of Babwa’s mouth, I won’t confirm a thing. TMZ is confirming that is just Whoopi who will be a co-host for the gabfest "The View". Read their exclusive here
